1897 Antique COIN HOLDER. Beautifully Engraved . England. 1897.
Excellent Example of Great Craftsmanship in the 1800s.
I am amazed at how little wear there is on the Engraved Design outside. Especially for the age !
Approx. 2& 5/8 X 1& 1/4 in. Made in England.
Obviously Hand made as a Gift. Being Engraved "

WHAT A TREASURE !! . Weighs 22.5 grams
The Silver is Soft,Thin and Bendable ,
Jeweler/ Silversmith has told me that those "dimples" on the inside cover could be worked out, And made
to look like New. ( if a person wanted ). Hinge is good.
The Actual Coin Holders are Spring Loaded .The small side is Dime size.
Being from 1897 ENGLAND . I'm not sure what coins This was designed to Hold..
The Latch is also Spring loaded . Note the tab adjacent to the latch.
This Silver Coin Holder was Well DESIGNED and MADE !
The heavy and large loop on top reminds me of a Watch Fob. Maybe it was worn that way .
OR I can see it being attached to a chain ,inside of a purse . Maybe even around the neck.
