Description
Up for auction is a rare bottle of perfume with the front label marked:  Promesse in script.  The backside label reads:  Parfums Valois & Empress Cosmetics.  This may have been introduced in the late 30’s or early 40's, due to the plain shape of the glass bottle.  I could find nothing on this perfume fragrance.  The brand Valois was established by Rudolph Storfer in the 1920’s & 30’s (as well as Guimet), and although it reads made in Paris (for window dressing), was a company located in New York.  Benson Storfer placed a patent on a bottle design in 1929 which had an amber flowered stopper and clear glass barrel like bottle.  It probably held a number of their fragrances and you still see many of these bottles for sale.  Bottle initially contained .925 Fl Oz, about 80% + remains.

Note:  The corners of the bottle mimic this stopper, and they too are not pointed but at an angle
Bottle has some residue that I was not totally able to clean up
Shiny white oval paper label on the front  (a little wear on the edges).  Embossed in the design of the paper is what I would call a fleur de lis both on the top and the bottom (above and below the Promisse name).  The fleur de lis symbolizes life, perfection and light
Promisse name is written in blue script on a dark sky blue oval
Stopper is frozen.  I do not see any onion skin, so I am going to assume this was open at one time.  I cannot smell anything at all.  Due to the age, the perfume may have deteriorated. I do not know how this bottle was stored over the years
Underside of the bottle is embossed:  Bottle Made in France.  And on the bottom reads:  BR2 (this could have been who made the glass, I do not know).
Backside of the bottle has a plain paper label which reads:
Parfum Valois
Net Cont .925 Fl Oz
Empress Cosmetics, Inc.N.Y.  N.Y., Importer
Dimensions of the bottle are:  2.75 inches tall and 1 3/16 inches square
There is a teeny chip on the bottom of the perfume, to the right of the BR2, on the corner
